BIOS Questions

How do I get into the BIOS setup?
Keep hitting the
DELETE
key
during the system memory count.
Do you have a BIOS history file that includes the problem(s) fixed for each
revision of the BIOS?
Yes, click
here for the file.
How do
I
clear
the
CMOS
setting
and/or
BIOS
password?
Turn
off
your
system
and
remove
the
chassis
cover.
Locate
the
JBAT1
jumper
(see
System
Board
Diagram
below).
Move
JBAT1
to 2-3
(towards
the
memory
slots)
and
leave
the
jumper
there
for
2-3
seconds.
Then
move
it
back
to
1-2.
Replace
the
chassis
cover
and
turn
on the

Hardware Questions

What's
the
combination
of
monitors
I can
use
with
the
onboard
video?
The
Calypso
4
comes
equipped
with
three
different
types
of
video
output
connectors:
VGA
(for
standard
CRT
monitors),
DVI
(for
digital
LCD
displays),
and
S-video
TV
out.
You
can
only
use
the
following
combinations:
1.
VGA
only
2.
VGA + DVI
3.
VGA +
S-video
TV out
The
VGA
display
will
be
"cloned"
to the
DVI or
S-video
TV out
monitor.
The
combination
of DVI
+
S-video
will
NOT
work.
I have
128MB,
yet it
is
showing
I have
only
96MB.
If you are
using the onboard SiS 650 video, it will take away a MINIMUM of
4MB from your total system memory. For example, if you have
128MB of system memory, and you set the onboard video for 32MB,
you will actually have a total of 96MB.
The
onboard video uses a shared video memory architecture. You can
adjust the amount allocated in the BIOS; it is user selectable
at
4,
8, 16, 32 (default), and up
to
64MB.
See
the
question
below.
How do I
adjust the amount of system memory allocated to the onboard
video?
Go into the BIOS
setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting up) and go into
Advanced
Chipset
Feature
/ Share
Memory Size. You can select 4, 8, 16, 32, or 64MB, or disabled.
If
you
set it
to
disabled,
you
will
get no
video
the
next
time
you
boot
up,
and
you
will
have
to
clear
the
CMOS
in
order
to fix
it
(see
BIOS
Questions
section
above).
How do I
disable the onboard audio?
Go into the BIOS
setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting up) and go into
Integrated Peripherals / Audio Device and set it to disabled.
How do I disable
the onboard LAN?
Go into the BIOS
setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting up) and go into
Integrated Peripherals / OnBoard LAN and set it to disabled.
How do I disable
the onboard Firewire controller?
Go into the BIOS
setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting up) and go into
Integrated Peripherals / OnBoard 1394 and set it to disabled.
I
have a
USB
keyboard
or
mouse,
but it
doesn't
work
in the
BIOS
or
when I
boot
to DOS ,
even
though
it
works
fine
once
Windows
is
loaded
up.
Plug
in a
PS/2
keyboard
for
now
and
go into the BIOS
setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting up). Go to Integrated
Peripherals
/ USB
Mouse/KB
Legacy
Support
and
set it
to
Keyb+Mouse.
Save
and
exit
from
the
BIOS,
and
change
your
keyboard
or
mouse
back
to the
USB
version.
I've turned the
system on, but I'm getting no power (i.e., power supply fan does
not spin).
Make sure the
cable from the case's power switch is connected properly to the
board's power on jumper; refer to the motherboard manual. Try
reseating the ATX power connector to the motherboard. Disconnect
all the power connectors to your HDD, FDD, CD-ROM, etc. then try
powering the system up. Try replacing the ATX power supply.
How do I enable my USB ports?
Windows NT 4.0
currently do not support USB. Windows 98/98SE, Windows 2000,
Windows Millennium Edition ( Me),
and Windows XP all
come with native USB drivers.
What kind
of DDR D IMMs can
I use?
DDR266/2100 non
ECC DDR DIMMs.
Can I use
PC133 DIMMs?
No, PC133 DIMMs
will not fit in the DDR DIMM slots.
Can I use
just one
DIMM?
Yes.
What
is the system's maximum memory capacity?
It is 1GB using
two 512MB DIMMs.
