    BIOS Questions

How do I get into the BIOS setup?

Keep hitting the DELETE key during the system memory count.

How do I clear the BIOS?

Power off the system and move JBAT1 (see System Board Diagram below; JBAT1 is located on the bottom left hand corner of the board) to 2-3 (away from the edge of the board) and leave it there for 2-3 seconds. Then move it back to 1-2 and power up the system again.

Do you have a BIOS history file that includes the problem(s) fixed for each revision of the BIOS?

Yes, click here for the file.

How do I update or flash my BIOS?

Updated BIOS are available on our FTP site.

I have flashed my BIOS, but now I get no video!

Try clearing your CMOS (see above). Make sure you've flashed the BIOS using the correct BIOS for your system board; flashing the wrong BIOS will render the board inoperable.

    Hardware Questions

I am getting a DHCP network request during boot up, and it takes about 30 seconds to complete. How do I get rid of this delay?

This is caused by the onboard Realtek network card trying to request an IP address via DHCP. You can disable this feature by hitting SHIFT + F10 to get into the Realtek setup, and then set the BOOT ORDER option to ROM Disabled.

I have 128MB, yet it is showing I have only 96MB.

If you are using the onboard video, it will take away a MINIMUM of 8MB from your total system memory. For example, if you have 128MB of system memory, and you set the onboard video for 32MB, you will actually have a total of 96MB. The onboard video uses a shared video memory architecture. You can adjust the amount allocated in the BIOS; it is user selectable at 8, 16, and 32MB (default; max); see below question.

How do I adjust the amount of system memory allocated to the onboard video?

Hit the DELETE key during power up to go into the BIOS, and then go to Advanced Chipset Features, AGP & P2P Bridge Control, VGA Share Memory Size. You can set it to Disabled, 8M, 16M, or 32M. Be careful if you set it to Disabled and you do not have an AGP video card installed, you will get NO VIDEO the next time you boot up. To correct this, you need to clear the BIOS; see the section BIOS Questions above.

How do I get the FULL amount of system memory?

Simply add an AGP video card and you get the full amount of system memory back.

Can I use the onboard video AND an AGP video card simultaneously?

    No.

I am installing an Athlon XP processor, but the clock speed is not being display correctly.

Most likely the CPU front side bus (FSB) speed is set incorrectly to 200MHz. Athlon XP processor FSB is 266MHz, while Duron processor is 200MHz.

Set SW1 to 2-3 (towards the battery) for 266MHz

Set SW1 to 1-2 (away from the battery) for 200MHz

Please refer to the system board diagram below for the location of SW1 (it's located next to the battery).

How do I disable the onboard video?

Add an AGP video card will disable the onboard video.

How do I enable or disable the onboard audio?

Hit the DELETE key during power up to go into the BIOS, and then go to Integrated Peripherals, VIA OnChip PCI Device, and set VIA-3058 AC97 Audio to disabled or auto (enabled).

How do I enable or disable the onboard LAN?

Hit the DELETE key during power up to go into the BIOS, and then go to Integrated Peripherals, and set Onboard LAN Chip to disabled or enabled.

I've turned the system on, but I'm getting no power (i.e., power supply fan does not spin).

Make sure the cable from the case's power switch is connected properly to the board's power on jumper; refer to the motherboard manual. Try reseating the ATX power connector to the motherboard. Disconnect all the power connectors to your HDD, FDD, CD-ROM, etc. then try powering the system up. Try replacing the ATX power supply.

I have two USB ports in the back, how do I enable them?

Windows NT 4.0 currently do not support USB. Windows 98/98SE, Windows 2000, Windows Me, and Windows XP all comes with native USB drivers.

What kind of DDR DIMMs should I use?

The motherboard only accepts PC1600/2100, DDR266 DIMM.

Can I use just one DDR DIMM?

    Yes.

What is the system's maximum memory capacity?

    It is 1.0GB using 2 x 512MB.

Don't mix up the PS/2 mouse and keyboard connector, otherwise your keyboard may not work properly. It's highly recommended that you use powered speakers for the onboard sound
. Note, L-out is where you connect your speakers.
