If
you are using the onboard SiS 651 video, it will take away a
MINIMUM of 4MB from your system memory. For example, if
you have 128MB of system memory, and you set the onboard video
for 32MB, you will actually have a total of 96MB (128MB - 32MB
= 96MB). The
onboard video uses a shared video memory architecture. You can
adjust the amount of video memory allocated in the BIOS
(please see the question below).
How
do I adjust the amount of system memory allocated to the
onboard video?
Go into the BIOS setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting
up) and go into Integrated Peripherals /
System Share Memory Size. You can select 4, 8, 16, 32, or
64MB.
How
do I get the full
amount of system memory?
You
need
to
add an AGP video card; that will automatically disable
the onboard video and free up the system memory.
Can
I use the onboard video AND an AGP video card simultaneously?
No,
adding an AGP video card will automatically disable the
onboard video.
How
do I
disable
the
onboard
video?
Adding
an
AGP
video
card
will
disable
the
onboard
video.
How do I disable the onboard audio?
Go into the BIOS setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting
up) and go into Integrated Peripherals / SiS OnChip PCI Device
/ SIS AC97 AUDIO and set it to disabled.
How do I disable the onboard
network
adapter?
Go into the BIOS setup (hit DELETE key while system is booting
up) and go into Integrated Peripherals
.
Set Onboard LAN
device
and Onboard LAN boot ROM to disabled.
Why doesn't my
AGP video card fit in the AGP slot?
The system AGP slot is for
AGP 4X, 1.5V compliant video cards only.
Older AGP video cards will not fit because it does not operate at
1.5V. The only solution is to upgrade your existing AGP video
card to one that is 4X and 1.5V compliant.
I've turned the system on, but I'm getting no power (i.e., power supply fan does
not spin).
Make sure the cable from the case's power switch is connected properly to the
board's power on jumper; refer to the motherboard manual. Try reseating the ATX
power connector to the motherboard. Disconnect all the power connectors to your
HDD, FDD, CD-ROM, etc. then try powering the system up. Try replacing the ATX
power supply.
I have two USB ports in the back, how do I enable them?
Windows NT 4.0 currently do not support USB. Windows 98/98SE, Windows 2000,
Windows Millennium Edition (
Me),
and Windows XP all
come with native USB drivers.
What kind of DDR D
IMMs can
I use?
DDR266/2100
or
DDR333/PC2700, non ECC DDR DIMMs.
Can I
use just
one
DIMM?
Yes.
What is the system's maximum memory capacity?
It is 1GB using two 512MB DIMMs.
